Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Grid52 ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you use Grid52 (the "Service"), how we use it, and your rights. We keep it short and plain because that is how we would want it written for us.

1. What We Collect

Information you provide

• Email address — only if you choose to create an account. Used solely to send a magic link for sign-in.
• Stack data — the tool names, notes, cost figures, and settings you enter into the app. Stored in your account if you are signed in, or in your browser's local storage if you are not.
• Display name — optional, set in Settings. Stored in your account profile.
• Feedback — if you submit feedback via the in-app form, we store the text and optional email you provide.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data — standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps). We use this only to maintain service reliability and diagnose errors. Logs are not linked to individual accounts.
• Cookies and local storage — we use browser cookies to remember your theme preference and active grid. We use localStorage to cache your tool data offline. We do not use tracking cookies or serve third-party advertising cookies.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment card details (handled entirely by Stripe). We do not collect social profile data. We do not use fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the Service (store and sync your grids).
• To send the magic link you request for sign-in.
• To respond to feedback or support requests you initiate.
• To improve the product — we may review aggregated, anonymized usage patterns (e.g., which features are used most).
• To detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized access.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate Grid52:

• Supabase — database and authentication. Your grids and account data are stored in Supabase's infrastructure (hosted on AWS). Supabase Privacy Policy →

• Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Google may collect standard request data. Google Privacy Policy →

4. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (via Settings → Delete Account), we permanently delete your grids, profile, and email address within 30 days. Anonymous usage logs are purged after 90 days.

5. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Supabase enforces row-level security so your grids are accessible only to your account. We do not store passwords (magic links eliminate the need for them). While we take reasonable precautions, no system is perfectly secure — use the Service accordingly.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data.
• Correction — update inaccurate data via the Settings panel.
• Deletion — delete your account and all associated data via Settings, or email us.
• Portability — export your stack data as JSON via the Export menu in the app.
• Opt-out — there are no marketing emails to opt out of. We only send transactional magic-link emails you explicitly request.

7. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. International Transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the Service you consent to this transfer.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify signed-in users via the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
